Die Kampagne „Vielfalt als Chance“ hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, das Bewusstsein für das wirt-schaftliche Potential kultureller Vielfalt in Deutschland zu stärken. Dass die Mehrheit der Men-schen mit Zuwanderungshintergrund weitaus erfolgreicher ist als allgemein angenommen wird, zeigte die Kampagne in den letzten Wochen mit über 9.000 ausgestrahlten TV und Radio-Spots.

Die Fachhochschule Brandenburg erhielt am 4. November 2008 den Sonderpreis „Diversity“. Der mit 10.000 Euro dotierte Preis wurde im Rahmen des Deutschen Arbeitgeberpreises Bildung 2008 vergeben. Margret Suckale, Personalvorstand der Deutschen Bahn AG, bezeichnete die FH Brandenburg und die weiteren Preisträger als „Leuchttürme in der deutschen Bildungsland-schaft“.

In der Wissenschaft tätige Mütter fühlen sich beruflich oft benachteiligt und ausgeschlossen. Dies ergab eine Befragung unter 8.700 Forscherinnen des Kompetenzzentrums Frauen in Wis-senschaft und Forschung (CEWS) in Bonn. Die im Auftrag der Robert Bosch Stiftung erstellte Studie kommt zu dem Ergebnis, dass bei 70 Prozent der kinderlosen Akademikerinnen ein Kin-derwunsch vorhanden ist.
