Bereits seit 2001 bemüht sich die Düsseldorfer Rheinbahn verstärkt um die interkulturelle Kompetenz ihrer Belegschaft. Mit einem Aushang wurden damals Beschäftige gesucht, die an einem interkulturellen Training des DGB-Bildungswerks teilnehmen wollten. Aus dem Training entstand 2003 der „Interkulturelle Stammtisch“.

Anfang des Jahres startete das Projekt „Diskriminierungsschutz: Handlungskompetenz für Ver-bände“ des Deutschen Instituts für Menschenrechte. Mit Schulungen und Beratungen soll in Be-troffenen- und Wohlfahrtsverbänden, Sozialverbänden, Verbraucherschutz- und Mieterverbän-den, Gewerkschaften sowie Arbeitgeber- und Wirtschaftsverbänden eine Antidiskriminierungs-kultur gefördert werden.

Ab September ermöglicht es das Auswärtige Amt Jugendlichen, einen kulturellen Freiwilligen-dienst im Ausland zu absolvieren. Interessenten zwischen 18 und 26 Jahren haben jetzt die Mög-lichkeit, sich für den sechs- oder zwölfmonatigen Aufenthalt zu bewerben. Die Kosten über-nimmt das Auswärtige Amt.
