Microsoft Austria’s ‘Stay-Connected-Breakfasts’

Microsoft Austria has been actively working towards their theme of ‘More women in IT’ and has been building their numbers of female employees gradually over the past years. “For the past year and a half, every third new employee at Microsoft Austria has been a woman,” stated Human Resources Manager Alexander Hahnefeld. One way that Microsoft Austria has been attracting and retaining female top talent is through regular “Stay-Connected-Breakfasts” for employees on maternity (or paternity) leave. These breakfast exchanges offer parents-on-leave the chance to discuss company developments, so as to not feel excluded from company progress and developments. Microsoft Austria also provides laptops and mobile phones for all parents on leave, to give them the option of staying connected to current projects and activities.
“Working in the IT industry is exciting and has a promising future. Therefore, we not only want to continue to motivate our current employees with our Diversity measures, we also want to attract more women, so they can choose embark on a successful career path with Microsoft”, said Sandra Micko, HR Representative at Microsoft Austria.
