LGBT Resource Group at Hampshire police force

The Hampshire police force is committed to welcoming and supporting employees from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities. It was awarded for its gay friendly policies and procedures as well as staff support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) police officers and staff by the Hampshire LGBT Resource Group (LGBTRG) which includes a confidential mailing list and networking events. The main aim of the LGBTRG is to offer support and mentoring as well as social and networking events to LGBT staff including those who are unsure of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The group also advises managers and individuals on relevant diversity issues and provides support to LAGLOs (lesbian and gay liaison officers) in critical incidents.
The Hampshire police force has been awarded second place amongst police forces for the second year running in the 2007 Workplace Equality Index by the charity Stonewall. The forces were measured against large national employers such as IBM, BBC, ITV and the Royal Navy coming 11th overall, up from 15th last year.
