German “Diversity Charter” on the rise

An increasing number of German companies and organisations are signing their names to the Diversity Charter initiated by DaimlerChrysler, Deutsche Bank, Deutsche BP and Deutsche Telekom with Minister of State Maria Böhmer in December. Many of the new signatories represented small and medium size enterprises, lauded Ms. Böhmer, “Every signature translates into a better integration of migrants. The language skills, talents, competences and abilities of workers from differing backgrounds is a valuable resource in the global economy.” The initiative aims at promoting tolerance, pluralism and diversity in corporate culture, from recruitment to training to career advancements and opportunities.
