Diversity Crew: Creative Witnesses of Discrimination

The Diversity Crew is a solidarity and independent collectif open to any individual who offers his or her story: refusing and struggling against the fatalism and banality of the discriminatory process, leading to the marginalization and uneasiness of those who are its targets. The history of the Diversity Crew started at a special session called Young People’s Stories which was held at the the Equality Summit at the official launch of the 2007 European Year of Equal Opportunities for All. 10 young people from various European countries, chosen to represent one of the 6 discrimination grounds, shared with the audience a part of their life stories, reflecting their experience of discrimination. What started off as a presentation of young people’s stories transformed itself in the course of the year into a veritable Young People’s Panel. The 10 person who initially attended the Equality Summit, later also appeared in front of the European Parliament and at the official Closing Conference of the Year in Lisbon. The Youth Panel has now moved forward and has renamed itself as “The Diversity Crew- Creative Witnesses of Discrimination”. The first meeting of the Diversity Crew with new members took place from June 14-18, 2008 in Drama/Greece.
